Conduct
Treat the people here as the people you already know them to be. Disagree with ideas, not people.
Membership
An admin adds you to a space and can remove you from it. Every member is in the community's default space; smaller spaces are by assignment, and each has admins of its own who manage who is in it. Settings shows the spaces you hold.
Content and labels
Admins manage membership and labels, and nothing else: no admin edits or deletes your posts. An admin can label a post or an account:
- nsfw and spoiler put the post behind a notice you open to read it.
- shadow hides it on this site. The record stays in your repository.
Privacy
Spaces are readable only by their members, and no page here is shown to search engines. Pages load nothing from outside Off the Clock: the fonts and scripts come from this site, and images come from its own image server through links that expire. When you post a link with a card, this site fetches that page once to read its title, description and image.
Search runs over this site's own index, within one space at a time, and shows only what that space's feed would show you. If the operator turns on meaning search, the text of every post and event in every space, and the words of each meaning search, are sent to the embeddings service the operator chose, which may be on this site's own machine or a hosted one under its own terms; when it is off, the search page says "Meaning search is off on this site".
Your data
What you write lives in your own repository, and you can delete any of it. Your drafts are records there too, in a private space only you can read; nobody else sees a draft until you post it. If you leave or are removed, what you wrote is hidden here, not deleted, and it returns if you come back.
